People with speech disorders will be isolated even in their own families.
Conversation is a daily thing for all people.
However, it can be a big challenge for people with unusual speech.
This research project is implemented in the framework of a doctoral thesis.
The goal of this project is to create a platform for recognizing the speech of people with speech disorders (dysarthria) using artificial intelligence technology.
Volunteers record simple, practical phrases.
Scientists and researchers analyze this audio data and use it to refine speech recognition software so that it can understand sounds as effectively as possible.
This research is integrated into apps and initiatives that provide assistance for people with non-standard speech.
The following conditions are necessary to participate in this research project:
You will read +100 phrases aloud as you normally would using the provided recording tool online. These recordings are then studied and will then be reviewed by an AI researcher (Reza Afshinmehr) and used to train speech recognition software.
You will need access to a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer with a microphone. It doesn’t matter if it’s a built-in microphone or a professional external microphone. To get started, simply sign up, then click the red “Record” button, and after reading each phrase displayed out loud (preferably in a quiet environment), press the blue "Stop" button again to stop recording that phrase and move on to the next phrase (this process repeats until the last phrase).
If for any reason you are unable to perform the recording yourself, you can ask your nurse or family members to help you with this.
If your problem is a technical one and you receive an error message, first check your internet connection, then open the site using one of the popular browsers such as Google Chrome. If the problem is not resolved, you can contact us.
The purpose of this thesis is to produce knowledge and achieve a way to recognize the speech of dysarthria patients such as ALS, MS, etc. using speech processing technology and artificial intelligence, which in addition to advancing the knowledge of the scientific community, can also benefit you and all dear patients like you and experience easy communication in society.
This research project is still in its early stages and is just a theory, and as you know, every research project around the world requires extensive research and testing by researchers, as well as numerous experiments, so that researchers can prove their hypothesis and, in other words, produce science, and this research project is no exception. After completing the research stages, the project output will be made available to participants for experimental use.
